Ben on...Bond strikes again

You would have heard that Shane Bond hit Lou Vincent in the nets and broke his wrist. Vincent is going home (though it sounds like he had a pretty good time while he was there).

Apparently it will be Hamish Marshall that will replace him, despite the amazing form Michael Papps is in.

I've been listening to Radio Sport's coverage of the State Championship - and boy, what awesome form Michael Papps has been in. Selectors, eh?

Papps was left out of the initial World Cup squad of 30 - which unfortunately means he couldn't be dragged in as a replacement.

Well that was a stupid oversight.

Still, H Marshall has not been doing too badly this season. 42 and 80 n.o. in the ongoing State Championship final. (Though less impressive in the one day series.)

Hamish Marshall again?? OK, he gets another chance...but who opens the batting along with Fleming now? I suspect Peter fulton will be asked to, given he's done the job a couple of times before. Or maybe Bracewell will go back to the idea of McCullum as opener..much as I love to disagree with it.

While Papps wasn't eligible to be named in the final squad of 15, do we know for sure that it isn't possible to call in replacements for the 15 from outside the 30?
