Aussies feeling confident

The Australian tells us that a semi-final against New Zealand gives Australia "a dream run to the [Champion's Trophy final]." Apparently New Zealand is not even capable of beating Australia on our own merits, because according to the article "only an inadequate performance will prevent Australia from [reaching the final]".

The aussies may have won 15 of the last 17 clashes, but as far as I remember NZ were rarely at full strength and quite a few of those matches were close. I have a feeling Fleming has done his groundwork thoroughly on the Aussies this time. On paper, Australia do have a superior lineup and bench strength while NZ still go in with the big guns (Bond, Styris, Vettori, Oram) not quite at peak fitness. Still, Fleming for once has his best lineup to call on and if the supporting cast (Vincent, Fulton, McCullum, Mills) hangs in there, the Aussies might just meet their match. Even assuming they play 'adequate' cricket. But that's a big if....
