Skippy of to a greener veldt

Well this is not much of a surprise, it seems that Matthew Sinclair, the man who was last night officially declared New Zealand's best batsman, is giving up on any prospect of playing for New Zealand again and is going to follow the path blazed by Ken Rutherford and accept a contract to play in South Africa.

This will be a huge loss. He is a class player. His biggest weakness is his inconsistency - lots of big scores and lots of little scores with little inbetween.

There is clearly a personality conflict somewhere. I'm not sure if it's with Braces or with someone else.

The situation with him highlights a weakness in the NZ setup - he has some batting problems so, rather than get coached to overcome the problems, he's dropped and told to go away until he's good enough. In the meantime NZ Cricket persevere with other middle-order players who are consistently inconsistent (McMillan, then H Marshall and S Styris).

Bring back Skippy!
