Ben on...a great escape

Awesome! Forget the 1st innings, ignore the quality of the opposition (and anyway, it's not like we've proven ourselves to be vastly superior) and don't let Cricket with Balls belittle us, the last innings of the test, chasing down more than 300, was a grand achievement.

Good performance overall, though Ryder's run out and the contributions of Taylor and McCullum were exasperating.
Do you think they've done the right thing by benching Southee for three consecutive games now? I would have thought he offers a bit more penetration than Kyle Mills at the moment.

I don't know Suhas. As much as I would like to see more of Southee, I wouldn't replace our main strike bowler on this tour with a rookie. Southee has after all only 5 test wickets. We could play him if Oram doesn't come right, though.

By the way, if you want penetration, Gillespie would the be the man to turn to.

Mills looked very disinterested in this test.

I'd like Young Tim to be given another test for experience befoer the fun that awaits us at the Gabba in a few weeks.

It was all down to that man Vetorri. Superb stuff from him to win that test.

He was quite clearly the difference !
