Dylan Cleaver on the team

Dylan Cleaver has added his words to the selection debate - although he does pause to marvel at how cricket-starved we must all be to actually get into a debate to start with.

Sober up Mr Cleaver! It's bollocks that Gillespie took that many wickets in one-day domestic cricket. He wasn't even in the top 10 based on wickets or averages! That 43 wickets was in the 4-dayers...

I have a real problem with Bracewell's selection policies. Firstly, his treatment of Lou Vincent re: the test matches last season was downright pathetic. Vincent had come off a 200+ against Sri Lanka and it seemed more of a personality conflict than any actual reason for his dropping. Persisting with Marshell as opener blunted his confidence also - total blunder on Bracewells part.

Secondly, the dropping of Ross Taylor is odd to say the least. Forgoing his domestic stats - his brief two inning stint in the NZ colours was full of excitement and promise. In fact, he only got out due to a 'rush of blood to the head' which is only normal in a young, cocky player and something that he would have learnt to control had he stayed in the team environment. With the world cup approaching, Taylor is one player who id have kept my eye on and this is a huge missed opportunity to blood him in proper.

Starting to get really angry with the way Bracewell manages the team. Trist was good but i think most progress was made under Rixon and its starting to be undone by Bracewell. He seems to think hes bigger than the team - his comments in past test series (ie: the Austrailian one a few years back) were bordering on laughable.

My squad for the upcoming champions trophey (in no particular order)

Fleming,
Astle,
McCullum,
Vettori,
Vincent,
Bond,
Franklin,
Oram,
Styris (if fit),
Adams,
Taylor,
Fulton,
Patel,
Mills

No offense to Gillespie but ive seen him bowl and i get the feeling he's just another Shayne O'Conner - high economy rate. or, something along the lines of:
8 overs, 0 maidens, 1 for 59

Just discovered your blog. excellent stuff, will be frequenting it more!
