A two dimensional team
Okay, so we are beating a poor West Indian team - but is anyone else worried how reliant we are becoming on two players? In today's match Shane Bond and Daniel Vettori conceded 51 runs in 20 overs and took 3 wickets between them. Scott Styris conceded as many runs in just 6 overs and didn't manage a single wicket.

And we also seem to be becoming very reliant on Brendon McCullum saving our batting efforts. He's making quite a formidable partnership with Dan Vettori these days!
It would be fantastic if we had more than two world class bowlers in the team, but how often is New Zealand this lucky?
In fact, we should be very pleased that even with Cairns retired and Oram injured we have bowlers who can win games for us.
Another pertinent question is whether the team is too reliant on Styris - notwithstanding his most recent performance. We don't have another genuinely dangerous containing seamer, let alone one who can win matches with his batting.
I have become increasingly frustrated with the faith given to those that pull out one good innings out of every 10 - Jacob Oram is one of these types of players for me. Since he has had to remodel his bowling action, his performances have been appalling.
But then everyone bleats on that he is an all-rounder… Seriously, other than 1 good game in 10 with the bat, what has he offered?? I personally don’t believe he is someone that should just slot back in to the team after his recovery from injury. In terms of a good allrounder I think a little more moulding should be done to the likes of a James Franklin to fill the Chris Cairns void.
Next move in world cricket domination…. How to convince Jonathan Trott to gain NZ residency!!
I understand Trott is playing in New Zealand 'cos his Dad emigrated here and suggested he come out. So getting him to play for us could be a possibility. I just hope someone from New Zealand Cricket is pouring some honeyed words into his ear...
