Andrew McLean's recent article criticising Sky TV's opening-game coverage of the New Zealand-Sri Lanka tour is so way off the mark that it needs not only correcting but a serious look at the man writing it.
Quite.
A place for me to indulge my passion for New Zealand cricket, post those stories that don't make the back pages of the morning paper and discuss cricket with my friends.

SKY NZ's broadcasts are okay without being stellar, in my view. Not half the quality that they do rugby, which might reflect NZ's sporting priorities. But they both miss the point- technology will enhance a good broadcast but won't do much for a mediocre one.
For me, as an Australian and therefore neutral viewer, the problem isn't that there are only New Zealanders doing the broadcasts- the problem is that there's a shortage of professional broadcasters. Just because you know a lot about cricket doesn't mean you can be a fine broadcaster. Consider Dean Jones.
